It seems to be human nature for people to like rules. It gives people borders in which to operate in. There is nothing wrong with rules, guidelines, and laws that are just and good\u2026 fairly used for everyone. Religion loves rules also described as traditions. In fact, God calls religion the traditions of men in Colossians 2:8. This is not a positive thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the Bible\u2019s Old Testament, the people were given the Law of Moses (the first five books of the Bible) to guide and point people to Jesus. The Law shows that people are sinful and lost without God. Jesus didn\u2019t come to destroy anything from God, He came to fulfill it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.<\/em>
-Matthew 5:17<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law of Moses. If you want to be fulfilled, you must have JESUS! Religious people are always looking to complicate things. Like the world, they are always looking to make rules and force everyone to follow them. The big thing with religious folk is they make the rules, tell everyone to follow them and don\u2019t follow them, themselves. This is a hypocrite or a pretender as some Bible translations describe what Jesus says about them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the rules, the law, the traditions, are not what we are to seek. The rules, the traditions should highlight our sin and point us to Jesus. The traditions should show us the reality of our relationship with God. We should baptize, take communion, lay hands on the sick when we pray, bring our first fruits (tithes) to the Lord first\u2026 these things honor God and acknowledge our relationship with Him. With God it is NOT about the rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.<\/em>
-Matthew 5:19<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The religious people around during the ministry of Jesus were making up all sorts of rules in addition to the laws of Moses. They were making people tithe down to their spices in their houses, forcing people from lifting a hand to do anything on the Sabbath day, and restrict people. Religious people are no different from the lost people of the world. They are just hypocrites not doing what they teach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God wants us to light up the world, not burden it with the traditions of men. Forget the meaningless rules and focus on the Word so you can know what God really cares about for you. Light \u2018em up! That\u2019s what people want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
