The Book of Daniel is a key book in the Bible that every Christian should understand. Not only does it talk about what was happening in that generation we also see prophecies (predictions) of what is to come. Through it we see that everyone is going to have challenges on this earth filled with unbelief and strife. Daniel chapter 1 takes us to Jerusalem, where the kings had forsaken God and the nation was adrift from following the things of God. We see four guys were taken at the defeat of Israel but the world’s most powerful nation at the time back to Babylon. Despite being taken from all that they knew and loved, these four men- Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah (with local names Belteshazzar, Shadrach. Meshach, and Abednego)- acclimated but thrived in their new environments thanks to their relationships with the most High God. Their relationship with God saved them.
