Freedom From Sin In The Church
1 Cor 9:22-23 | |
| 22 | to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker of it with you. NKJV If you are a believer, you are redeemed from your past. If you are of strong faith, you are ready for your future. But not everyone who walks into the doors of the training room is ready to lift 100 kilograms that first day. It takes time to build up your strength. The same is true for faith and the spiritual area. In 1 Corinthians, Paul is here talking about relating to people. The life of a believers is uplifted and refreshed on Sunday, but it is the rest of the week that the people need you. The world is in darkness and they need your light. They need the hope that you have, they have the healing power that manifests by the laying on of hands, they need that power to break the control of demons. At the same time, we have people in the church who need help as well. Everyone is tempted to do something they shouldn’t. If they mess up and they are in church leadership, they need to step down. We cannot have leaders in our church families actively leading that have sinned. It invalidates that spiritual authority that the church must have to avoid falling into the dead-end religious system of ritual and traditions. How are we to deal with people who have sinned? Galatians gives us good advice. |

| 1 | BRETHREN, IF any person is overtaken in misconduct or sin of any sort, you who are spiritual [who are responsive to and controlled by the Spirit] should set him right and restore and reinstate him, without any sense of superiority and with all gentleness, keeping an attentive eye on yourself, lest you should be tempted also. AMP As a believer, you are a builder not a destroyer. The leadership needs to deal with obvious sins in the church and must not just ignore. However, if someone sins and they are unwilling to admit it, then they may need to eventually need to be asked to leave the church. I remember a woman at a church we went to years ago whose goal was to seduce one of the married men in the church. It didn’t seem to matter who it was. Apparently, she was consoled and talked to, but unwilling to give up that demonic seducing spirit that controlled her. The pastor and the leadership team eventually told her she was welcome back to church once she dealt with the problem and not before. If that woman help been willing to acknowledge the problem, then she could have been reinstated into the church family with prayer, counseling and breaking of that demonic power. You see, no demon is going to leave you unless you tell it to go away. Jesus didn’t ask demons to leave, He commanded them to be gone and they had to leave. But everyone He dealt with recognized their trouble and wanted to be free. That is why they went to the Messiah. Not everyone recognizes their issues. To be free, you’ve got to recognize your trouble and deal with it. If you are an alcoholic, you have to recognize the problem before you can deal with it. It is the same for recovering drug addicts, homosexuals and all sorts of sins that keep you in bondage. You have to stay away from places and things that would pull you back in. We who are strong shouldn’t do things that cause others to struggle. That is why I decided not to watch violent and sexually themed movies. If I do it, then why can’t my brother or sister in Christ? Same thing for drinking alcohol. No good comes from drinking alcohol. Eating and drinking has long been an issue. 1 Cor 10:31-33 says, |
| 31 | Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. NKJV It is all about bringing people to Jesus. If someone is down, don’t shout at them. Encourage them with the Word on strength, but do so in love. Today’s Reading- |

Something New
Isaiah 43:19 | |
| 19 | Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. NKJV We have seen it time and time again. When a country or society goes from having nothing to a developed nation, the people start to always look forward to something new to buy or try. If you want to talk in Biblical terms, we hear it called ‘the lust for things’ when it gets out of control. It is always fun to have new things but when most of our joy comes from getting something new and when we lose interest in what we already have, then we are probably heading towards being a shop-a-holic... having a lust for things. There is nothing wrong with liking to have new things. However, that can’t be our focus for life. You know from experience once you get those new things, they don’t really satisfy. It might feel good for a short time to have something new and interesting. However, it only lasts for a short time. You don’t really feel completed because of getting a new thing. What we need His mercy and grace. Lamentations 3:22-23 |

| 23 | They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. NKJV With God there is a newness to life when you repent and turn to Jesus. There is a new revelation when you get baptized in the Spirit and receive the gift of tongues and learn your prayer language. There is powerful newness when you see that your prayers in the Name of Jesus pack power and yield results based on your faith in Him. As a newly-wed couple we went to my uncles house for dinner. My wife and I were just turning on to the power of the Word and faith. During the dinner, my aunt and uncle’s phone rang and my aunt answered. After hanging up, we found out that it was my mother calling to say my father was very sick. Before we shared that meal together I sensed we should pray so my uncle asked me to pray for my father and interestingly enough my uncle asked me to pray over the meal. We prayed in faith for my father and went on with the meal and time together. The next day I remember my mom calling my house and saying my aunt was quoting that scripture in James (5:16) saying something like “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” regarding my prayer. Back at my parents house that night, immediately after our prayer my father had recovered immediately. I was encouraged by the power of God’s love through our prayer, we rejoiced at the goodness of God. It was so amazing because being a spirit filled believer was new and fresh to me as we were just starting to get ourselves rooted in the Word. It is the same today. Since receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, I have noticed being a believer is a very exciting way to live. God always has something new for you if you are willing to stretch your faith. Just as Isaiah wrote, when it seems like there is know what to go, God is going to make a road for you in the wilderness. You can live a long and prosperous life and enjoy every day of it because you are led by the Holy Spirit and filled with His wisdom by keeping an open mind and a hungry spirit. Remember if you want that newness, that freshness, that hope when everything around you seems dry and a wasteland then you have to connect spiritually, your spirit with the Holy Spirit. You know that your spirit is the new creation in you when you turn to God. 2 Cor 5:17-18 says |
| 17 | Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; 18 behold, all things have become new. NKJV When you are Spirit-filled, things are not alway easy, but they are easier than those who don’t know Him. Things are new because you are overflowing with the presence of God. Today’s Reading- |

Standing In The Gap
Ezekiel 22:30-31 | |
| 30 | So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. NKJV Standing in the gap. This is what you and I need to do for the people in the darkness around us. We are the believers who are right before God and speak on behalf of others. Abraham stood in the gap for Sodom and Gomorrah because his nephew lot was living there when he talked to God about not destroying that city through his prayers. That city was completely perverse and clueless of the things of God. The men of the city even wanted to rape the angels visiting because they thought they were men. This world is full of sin and corruption. Without the light of the Gospel, it is completely lost as well as all those who don’t know Him in it. But God has called you and I to be priests and kings to share the Kingdom with those around us, to teach, preach, and heal just as Jesus did. At the same time, we saw that Jesus would go off to a quiet place to spend time with the Father. This is where He got His power spiritually. He got power from His prayer and face time before the Father. This is exactly what He told us to do as well when He instructed us to pray. |

| But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. NKJV We are to be praying. We don’t have to announce we’re praying for someone with trumpets and fanfare. We should just pray for people when the Holy Spirit reminds us, or they come to mind. If you don’t know what to pray, pray in tongues, your prayer language you received after the baptism of the Holy Spirit. When you pray things happen. While we are on this earth, what happens needs to be shaped and conformed by the prayers of the saints. You know Jesus? Then you are a saint because you are the righteousness of God by faith in Christ Jesus. You have got to be praying. Governments topple because of the prayer of His people. The hearts of leaders change because of the prayer of His people. Challenging situations are defused when His people pray. Attacks are thwarted and bombs don’t blow up when His people are praying. Things happen when you pray. | |

NKJV Feel like you don’t now what to pray? Well, do you know the Bible? That would be the first question you should probably ask yourself. If you don’t know the Word, then it is hard to know what to pray. When you know the Word, people know what to do. God’s words are the life and the substance. |

High Performance
Jer 1:12 | |
| 12 | Then the Lord said to me, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word." NKJV One day I sat with a good friend in a coffee shop in Singapore just catching up on things. He was very involved in an Italy-based church and was explaining to me about their prayer beads and the associated chants (or prayers), why his group calls priests ‘father’, why those priests are forbidden to marry, how the bread and juice of communion turns into flesh and blood of the Messiah, and about this place the group calls ‘purgatory’ that people go to after when they die before heaven. As always, I kept an open mind and tried to see if there was any base for these different beliefs in particular that varied from that of Christians in general. He continued to explain to me that we cannot believe the Bible as the only source of revelation but was unsure of what Bible translation he actually read. That is when he lost me. Basically, he admitted he didn’t read the Bible much. Trusting the advice of someone who doesn’t have the experience is dangerous. It is like commissioning someone as a airline pilot who has never flown a plane and has not read a flight manual or even been to flight school. If you put that person in the cockpit, you are going to end up with a crash. What good is the Bible? Is it just something that fell together? Timothy tells us in 2 Tim 3:16-17 that |
| 16 | All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. NKJV So the Word of God, the Bible, is inspired by God, profitable or beneficial to us, and something that we believers can use to be equipped for life. So how did we get the Bible? 2 Peter 1:20-21 says |
| 20 | knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. NKJV So the Bible did not fall from heaven. It was written by multiple men of God as they were moved on by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit directed them. That is why there is such continuity from Genesis to Revelation. Your Bible is not just a book. It is a powerful weapon when the promises go off the pages and into your mind and spirit. The is where the power is. Hebrews 4:12-13 says, |
| 12 | For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. NKJV The Word of God is living and powerful. I always have a copy on me. If someone catches you without a Bible on you, you should give them $50 for catching you ‘naked’. If it is on you, it is going to be in you (that is going from your mind when you read it, to your spirit when you start to see the differences). You’ve got to read it, meditate it, pray it, and say it. Things are going to happen. Why? God works according to His Word. He says, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word." God’s Word is high performance. If you want to see your life move, then you have to employ God’s Word in your daily routine. Smith Wigglesworth summed it up beautifully. God’s Word is: Supernatural in origin. Inexpressible in valor. Infinite in scope. Regenerative in power. Infallible in authority. Universal in application. Inspired in totality. We should: Read it through. Write it down. Pray it in. Work it out. Pass it on. Today’s Reading- |

What You Expect
Joshua 6:2 | |
| 2 | And the Lord said to Joshua: "See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor. NKJV The massive estate house is all locked up, the lights are on, and people are looking out the windows with guns... that is what it was like when God spoke to Joshua. Joshua had just led the Israelis into the land that God had promised their ancestor Abraham. They were looking at this massive city and God spoke to Joshua. Remember, God likely spoke to Joshua via his spirit as that is how He usually talks to us. Joshua heard Him say, “See I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor”. Joshua had two ways to “see” it. He could see it as, God has given us this city and proceed, or he could have said, “Man, that’s a massive city, that army there is known for being tough, or even, am I really hearing the voice of the Lord?” Faith is expectation in the things of God. When you build your expectation, then you are going to have what you say just as Mark 11:23 says. How is it that we can have what we saying? It is because the power of God is behind what we are saying. Notice, I said, ‘saying’ not ‘said’. Faith is speaking, it is confessing the same thing over and over. Sound crazy? Well, it is to a mere human. But not to a man or woman of faith. 1 Cor 1:25 says, |
| 25 | Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. NKJV People of strong faith are people who say what God says, not what the world says. This is something you have to remind yourself of. As you speak the Word over your life, things are going to change. Say nothing and nothing will change. Faith is speaking. Mark 11:22-24 reads, |
| 22 | So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. NKJV Joshua heard God’s voice. He did as he was told and they won the city. Today as you think about your school, your job, your family. Don’t talk about yourself as others talk about you. Talk about yourself as God sees you. Talk about yourself as you expect to be. In school, you’re the best student with the highest marks. You get along well with others and have great favor with the teachers. You have the wisdom of God because you fear Him. At work, you are the best worker, you get the best salary, like Daniel and Joseph, the boss recognizes the anointing of God on you and lifts you up. You have a bright future to lead and show the light of the Father to your coworkers. In the family, you have a deep relationship with your family members and get along very well. Your house serves the Lord so you are extremely blessed. Got the picture? That is exactly it. You’ve got to picture yourself saying, doing, and being the things that God has called you to be. Faith starts as a little powdery seed, however you’ve got to grow into that huge faith tree to be seen by the world and display the awesome power of God to your generation. Today’s Reading- |

The Word of Faith And The Faith Talk
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 | |
| 11 | "For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' 14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. NKJV At the public forum filled with 150 members of a political party in financial difficulty, he stood up to ask a question of one of the politicians. When handed the microphone, he asked about the dubious loan that was secured at 3 percentage points higher than the national average. Clearly, this elected official didn’t want to talk about it, but the party member as the majority in the room, was frustrated as there was no transparency with the party finances. In anger, he asked of the loan, “And what do you get out of it?” The crowd roared, the majority with satisfaction that someone would say it as it appeared. Others booed as they thought, “How dare one party member question the integrity of our politician.” The politician had an opportunity to respond, he could clearly explain why a new loan could not be secured or just deny any wrong doing. Every question is an opportunity, whether hostile or not. In most cases every question you get asked is an opportunity for you to clearly communicate your personal, company, or even church intentions or message. Chief Executive Officers of major corporations sometimes go through crisis management training on how to deal with a situation if their product has a recall, someone gets injured due to the operation of their equipment, or even if there is some type of activist attack on their company image. The majority of this training comes down to learning what to say. Learning what to say is even more detrimental for the believer. We hear about the Word of Faith in the Bible as saying what you are expecting. It’s all about saying or speaking. Salvation, or knowing God, is a word. Acts 13:26 says, |
| 26 | "Men and brethren, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the word of this salvation has been sent. NKJV The word of salvation was sent to us. The Word of faith is to speak the Word of God over your situation. In Joshua 1:8-9, Joshua was told the key for success. |
| 8 | This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. NKJV People talk about what they are interested in, and what they believe. When you talk the Word in your life, things break free. We really have to make sure to keep our up our “faith talk”. No matter what is going on around you, you have to speak what God says about your situation. If you are out of cash, you have say, “My needs are met according to His riches, and glory. I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath.” Of course, it is not just about speaking His Word in all situations. It is also about knowing Him and doing His will. Matthew 7:21 says, |
| 21 | "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. NKJV What are you doing? Are you talking faith or talking unbelief? Speak faith, and know the Father of our faith, it is not just Abraham. It is more God who spoke over the world in the first recorded condition of our world when He spoke “Let there be light” and there was light. Today’s Reading- |

The Power Of The Full Gospel
Rom 15:19 | |
| 19 | in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. NKJV Kids going off to Sunday and singing little songs and learning how to do good: Growing up to be adults and ‘turning the other cheek’ while they get beat up or insulted. If that is the Jesus that we serve, I want none of it. People talk about Jesus but some people that think being a Christian equals being a meek, weak, accept anything that comes along. That is wrong. The people that preach this are only preaching half the gospel. The Word talks about the Full Gospel. Romans 15:19 talks about fully preaching the gospel of the Messiah. If you read the verse you see that signs and wonders display the works of God. This is not kindergarden, we live in a real world with a spiritual enemy that wants to kill, steal, and destroy anything we have. We are surrounded by corrupt people who are in darkness until they turn to Jesus. The Bible and the teachings of Jesus are not some fairy tale. The history is verified, the cities, the people, the places, the pottery, the archeology and even those old toilets reinforce that Daniel, Joseph, David, Solomon, Rahab, Mary, John, James, Peter, Adam... these people were all real people who lived on the earth just like you and I live here today. If we’re just following a bunch of stories, then there is no power. But I have seen the power. 1 Cor 4:20 says, |
| 20 | For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. NKJV It is not just talk of God’s Kingdom. That’s right! God heals, God blesses, God breaks bondages, He does so much through our faith in the power of His Name. |
1 Cor 2:4-5 | |
| 4 | And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. NKJV When you go to church this week, expect the dynamic power of God to ignite in your life. Expect great things. Have your faith high and be ready to latch on to the health and healing, the financial breakthroughs, the mental wholeness, the daily life of overcoming, but most importantly the holiness and awesomeness of Yahweh, the foundation of love, the creator of the universe, and the greatest lover of us. There is no one like Him. Be a contributor to the power at your church. Spend time communicating with God during the week, pray for those whom the Holy Spirit brings to mind, lift up your pastor and church leaders, show the love of God to people in public places as you go about your day. Get yourself under pastors in churches that are strong in faith and the Word. Things should be happening at your church if it is a healthy church preaching the full gospel. Intellectual lectures on theology, tradition, or ritual is not going to help you in you in life. The full gospel will. And when you get to church on Sunday, be ready for signs and wonders. Why? The gospel is not just something to think about, it is something to see. The full gospel is the gospel “good news” of God’s Kingdom and His ways, with the signs and wonders. If you are not seeing the Kingdom of God working in your life than you better know who those are teaching and leading you. 1 Thess 1:5 says |
