Is There Salt And Light In Your City?

Jesus people are different.  We don’t have to get sick, depressed, or be poor.  That is not God’s plan for us.  He says in John 10:10, that He came to give us eternal life and abundant life.  It doesn’t stop there.  God has a LOT more planned for you… but are you ready to claim it. “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. -Matthew 5:13 In Matthew, Jesus teaches believers that we are to be salt in the world. Why salt?  Salt flavors things.  Have you ever had food where they forgot to put in a bit of salt?  It is just blah, not interesting, has nothing special to it.  Salt adds flavor.  Once you’re saved, you are to be adding flavor to your neighborhood, your workplace, your school, whatever people surrounds you.  One other important trait of salt is that it preserves food it’s added to.  That’s what you are in the world to do.  As a Bible-believing, Spirit-filled and baptized believer you are preserving the world around you from hell and giving them a chance for Heaven!  Once believers are temporarily removed from the Earth in the Rapture, people will be in shock.  Jesus doesn’t stop by just using salt to describe what you are to do in your world. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. -Matthew 5:14-16 Next Jesus teaches us that we are LIGHT!  Wasn’t it Jesus that is the light?  Yes, but that light is passed on to believers now that He is at the right hand of the Father ( Ephesians 1:20).  We are the light.  That light has to be broadcast.  If you have ever seen the city lights of some major city, you will see it as beautiful.  It is fun to go up somewhere high and look down at the city lights at night.  For God’s people, we are described by God as light, but we are a city of hope to the world.  We are not in the valley, we are on the mountain tops closer to God than the lost world. If you are a believer it’s time for your life to a salty city of light.  Showing people that they have a place that they can run to and be safe from the worries, fears, and failures of the world.  They can be immune like you!  Praise God!  Be filled with His light today by spending time with Him, and be salty adding flavor to your world.  If you don’t do it, who will? The name of the LORD is a strong tower;The righteous runs into it and is safe. -Proverbs 18:10
