On Sunday Pastor Spencer taught us about understanding that the world we live in is filled with hate but we are not to be a part of it. Of course, there are good people out there. But without Jesus, we’re all lost.

He shared how 1 John 3:15 talks about how if we hate someone, before God we are just as bad as a murderer. Many people in the world tend to stick with people who are like them, but reject those who are different. Hate can poison a person’s soul. Unforgiveness is usually the root cause of hate. We as believers must keep hate and bitterness from springing up and defiling the church of Jesus Christ. That’s you and I who believe in Jesus as our personal Savior, believe the Bible is the infallible Word of God, and seek God daily.

As believers we are not to hate, but we are to love. The world without Jesus really doesn’t know how to truly love like God does. Love is an action not a feeling. Romans 13:9-10 says we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. Loving someone is a choice.

Jesus people think different that the world. We are not a sub-culture but in fact we are a counter culture. God’s Kingdom is all about bringing people to light and knowledge. Psalm 119:105 says that God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light unto our path. John 8:31,32 says that we will know the truth and it will set us free. If you don’t know the word of God, you can’t know true freedom.

Jesus people must be the counter culture as Jesus Christ is and bring the chaos and confusion of the world to God’s wonderful light. Hallelujah!
